Diese Antenne wird in Österreich auch gerne als "Präsidenten Antenne" bezeichnet. OE3MZC der Präsident des OEVSV hat diese Antenne 2017 am IARU YOTA Meeting als Bauprojekt vorgestellt. Diese Seite dokumentiert meine Umsetzung genau einen Tag vor einer SOTA Aktivierung bei der ich die Antenne nutzen möchte. Das geringe Gewicht und die flexible Bauweise bietet sich an um auf einen Berg getragen zu werden.

This antenna is has a special name here in Austria, some folks call it "president's antenna" due to the fact that OE3MZC the president of the OEVSV did a presentation on the IARU YOTA meeting in 2017. This report documents my building project one day before a planned SOTA activation where I want to use it. The light weight and low weight is ideal to carry it to a mountain.

Die SlimJim antenne ist eine Variante der J-Pole. Beide sind im Grunde endgespeiste resonante Halbwellenantennen. Dieser Bauvorschlag ist besonders interessant für mich weil damit 2m und 70cm Bänder abgedeckt werden. Für den Betrieb an Portablen Geräten auf den UKW Bändern hat man so nur ein Kabel für beide Bänder am Funkgerät.

The SlimJim antenna is a variant of a J-Pole. Both antennas are end fed resonant halfwave antennas. This concept has a special interest for me as it offers to use 2m and 70cm band with just one cable to a portable radio.

Der Bau der Antenne geht recht schnell. Das größte Problem dürfte das Beschaffen des 240Ω Stegkabels zu sein. Ich habe das Material aus alter Zeit herumliegen gehabt. Aktuell kann man das bei manchen Onlinehändlern wie Reichelt und Neuhold wieder bekommen. Die PDF Bauanleitung und die Grafik hier auf der Seite beschreibt die Längen die gut eingehalten werden sollten. Meine Antenne war deutlich unterhalb der vorgesehenen Frequenzen resonant wie Messungen mit dem VNA gezeigt haben. Zum Abstimmen habe ich die Antenne, die ich ursprünglich 1,4m lange gebaut hatte, Schritt um Schritt auf 1,3m gekürzt.

Assembly of this antenna is quick and easy. Most likely the biggest problem is sourcing the 240Ω cable. Currently several online shops carry the cable again. I had the cable from my electronics material collation. The assembly instruction from the PDF guide and the graphic here gives advice for the length. My antenna was fairly to low in the band. I left the cable about 1,4m. I used a VNA to analyze the antenna. I stopped at about 1,3m length.

Der Bau geht rasch und einfach. Kabel abschneiden etwas länger als geplant um abstimmen zu können. Unten zusammenlöten, Lücken einfügen und die Brücke einbauen. Danach ein Koaxkabel anschließen, der Innenleiter kommt an das lange Stück - fertig.

Assembly is quick and easy. Cut the cable a bit longer than required to allow adjusting it. Connect the bottom side, cut the gabs and install the bridge. Finally conenct the coax, inner wire to the long side - that's it..

Mantelwellen Sperre

Das Koax-Kabel habe ich mit einem Schrumpfschlauch an der Antenne gesichert. Danach noch eine Mantelwellensperre auch 5 Windungen Coaxkabel das kann nie schaden. Gesichert mit ein paar Kabelbindern fertig. In der Praxis bei Aktivierungen hat die Sperre nix gebracht nur etwas mehr Gewicht im Rucksack. Bei einem SWR von 1,3 oder drunter ist auch ncihts zu erwarten.

Common Mode Chocke

I secured the coax cable with a shrink tube. After that a chocke made by 5 windings cable whuch I secured with zip ties, that's it. My practical experience showed there is no difference. At a SWR of 1.5 or below there is nothing to expect.

Montage Schleife

Am oberen Ende noch eine Schlaufe mit Klebstoff befestigt um die Antenne aufhängen zu können, das war's dann auch.
